FARM POLICY – COVERS AVAILABLE

Farm building, farm contents, farm machinery, fencing, stored farm produce and wool.

Including cover for: -

• Accidental loss or damage $22,000
• Unspecified farm contents $55,000
• Theft of farm contents $22,000
• Fusion of electric motors $550
• Additional costs/agistment costs $22,000 or 30% of the nominated livestock sum insured whichever is the greater.
• Produce in transit (fire, flood, collision or overturning of conveying vehicle) $1,000.

FARM QUESTIONS

Q. Can I cover more than just the house I live in on my farm policy?
A. Yes. You can insure any other dwellings on your property in addition to any other houses or holiday houses you may own.

Q. Are my personal belongings automatically covered away from my home?
A. If you select to insure for accidental damage cover then your personal belongings are covered away from your home.

Q. Can I cover my farm buildings for replacement value?
A. Yes. You can elect to cover your buildings for either current market value or fully for replacement value.

Q. Is my farm machinery and contents covered only on my property?
A. No. The policy covers both machinery and contents anywhere.

Q. Can I get protected No Claim Bonus on my car?
A. Yes. If you are on Maximum No Claim Bonus you can elect to extend your policy to cover this benefit.

Q. If I have a motor vehicle accident that is not my fault, do I lose my No Claim Bonus.
A. No, provided you can tell us the name and address of the other party.

Q. Does the farm liability cover me only on my property?
A. No. Your liability insurance covers you anywhere you are operating your farming business.

Q. Does my farm liability cover include work I do for others on a contract basis?
A. Yes, provided you advise us and the income from your contract work does not exceed 30% of your total farm income.

Q. Is my livestock covered against fire only?
A. No. Your policy also covers losses caused by lightning, impact by vehicles, theft and death caused by straying dogs. There are limits under the policy for these additional covers.

Q. If I have a fire on my farm and my stock feed is lost do I have cover under my policy?
A. Yes, provided you insure your livestock.

Additional Benefits

  1. Chemical overspray caused by spray drifting from adjoining properties not owned by you
  2. Damage caused by straying livestock not owned by you
  3. Stored seed and hay is covered for fire and extraneous perils until sowing is completed the following calendar year
  4. Grain and hay is covered for accidental damage whilst in transit
  5. Extra harvest allowance where damage to an insured crop is assessed at greater than 70%
  6. Reducing excess benefit where the assessed loss is greater than 20%
  7. Replanting subsidy

NB Additional Benefits 1, 2 & 5 are not applicable if you decide to insure for fire only.

FAQs

Q. Can I cancel my crop insurance if my crop fails?
A. Yes, provided that you notify us prior to Final Revision Date.

Q. Can I change my estimated yields?
A. Yes, you can increase or reduce your yields any time up until Final Revision Date.

Q. Can I change the value per tonne?
A. Yes, you can increase or decrease the value per tonne up until Final Revision Date.

Q. Is the excess applicable to all losses?
A. No, the excess is only applicable to losses arising from claims for hail.

Q. Does the cover start as soon as I advise you of my crop details?
A. If you insured with us last year, then we will extend cover to your next season’s crops up until the 15th of August of the next season.
If you have not previously insured with us there is a 48 hour delay in the commencement of cover.

Q. Can I cover crops grown for hay production?
A. Yes. Cereal crops grown for hay can be covered whilst growing, cut and baled.
